Summer Style Tips

Posted in Fashion News on July 25th, 2008 by Bonnie-Love

summer-trend.jpgHere are a few tips on how to wear the hottest trends for Summer 2008:

FULLNESS-Everything is BIG this summer! Dresses, pants, sleeves… But, unless your body mimic’s that of a runway model, your best bet is to still give yourself some shape by adding a belt. Skinny, wide and corset belts are all being used to accentuate parts of the body. Remember to enhance your best features with close fitting volume and distract your body kinks with carefully placed volume.

THE FULL LEG/OVER-SIZED TROUSER- Best when worn with a fitted top or blazer. Do not, I repeat, do not wear oversized trousers with a voluminous top, unless of course your 6 feet tall.

HI-WAISTED- The opposite will go for the hi-waist. When there is little volume around the torso, go for more volume on top. If you want to do a slim & sexy look with your hi-waisted bottoms, wear a shirt with voluminous sleeves.

THE MAXI DRESS- My fave! It’s bigger this season…literally! You’ll see the maxi in beautiful flowing fabrics and bold colors. The silhouettes vary from A-lines, to very straight to larger than life volume. For us, vertically-challenged women, stick with the straighter maxi or slight A-line. Taller women can get away with the big-volume maxis without looking like they’re going to float away. To really add some umph to your maxi, wear lots of chunky, ethnic-inspired jewelry. It really gives a goddess feel. Wedges are great to add some height and elongate the figure. To play-down your maxi, throw on some sandals.

BOLD COLORS- The more in your face, the better was the verdict for this year’s summer palette. The biggest colors were bright yellow, kelly green, electric blue and orange-red. Almost any color is in this summer. So, you love the color, but don’t want to over do it… pair it with a neutral to tone it down. Black, white or gray work great for this.

BLACK & WHITE- for a sleek and sophisticated look, this is a great combination. But, try giving a splash of color with a yellow bangle or an over-sized kelly green bag. This will give the look a fresh feel!Have any questions about a trend that your dying to try this season? If so, email (Stylist @ Love Rocks Boutique .com)
